Regions of Costa Rica

North Pacific

Spreading across the province of Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula, this warm peace of land is rich in traditions and folkloric manifestations. The tourist, national as well as international, can live the rhythm of the holidays, discover the famous figure of "sabanero" (Guanacaste cow-boy), horseback riding the Costa Rican way, the corridas (bull fights) and also a wide variety of food and typical drinks.

The irregularity of the littoral in this region presents a large variety of beaches and coastal resources, but the spread of forest in Guanacaste is far from neglect able. You will also find caves with their stalactites and stalagmites, dry tropical forests, marshes, volcanoes and historical sites.

Rapid and safe access to the principal tourist destinations of the zone is guaranteed by the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, coupled with other smaller airports (Tamarindo, Carrillo, Islita). An efficient public transport system and shuttle service (communauty of Paquera and Naranjo beach) serve many points of the region. A bridge on the Tempisque River was recently inaugurated, making the whole central and lower mountain part of the peninsula easily accessible to the rest of the Country.
