Monteverde
The Monteverde area is recognised World wide not only for its efforts for the environment but also for the way of life of its habitants centered on the respect of nature.
Santa Elena is the principal center of its services; the city holds many businesses and tourist agencies. San Luis and San Gerardo also form important communities. The principal attraction is without doubt the Monteverde Biological Reserve, but the visitor can also enjoy the diversity of the natural sites, the presence of forest paths, observation of the fauna and flora, and splendid scenery, etc. Given the tourist attractions and the general atmosphere in Monteverde, the activities essentially turn around natural history and adventure. Other tourist activities are proposed like quetzal observation, hikes and treks, canopy exploration, suspended walkways and garden visits like the Ranarium (frog garden) and Butterfly Farm.
