GovernmentThe government system of Costa Rica is very similar to the one in the United States or most countries of Occidental Europe and South America. There are three powers: the Executive, with a President, two Vice-presidents and ministers; the Legislative, with it's Assembly that has 57 elected members; and the Judicial Power, which include Civil Court, Criminal Court, Appeal and Constitutional Courts. The President and the members of the Legislative Assembly are elected for a period of four years and the President cannot be re-elected.
