Climate
Costa Rica's climate is very pleasant year round, but always hot on the coastal zones. The temperatures in the mountain regions are not cold, especially in the daytime, giving out a sensation of eternal Spring. The average year round temperature ranges between 31.7º on the coast and 16.7º in the highlands. The rainy season (or green season) goes from May to November, and between December and April there is almost no rain at all.
Going to the beach is a must when you come to Costa Rica. However, you must be very careful not to abuse, since your skin needs anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to produce melanin, a dark pigment that reduces the devastating effects of the sun. It is recommended to use a solar screen or cream with a high level of protection, minimum 30.
